12/23/2023 0 Comments Where to put license on protopieHow often do we use it? Very often, it is very intuitive and fast. What is it? Prototyping software for MacOS. In this post, we share our experiences with the tools we use the most. Looking at the past, this list might be out of date in a few months, but there are also some tools on this list that we have been using for years. So far we haven’t seen a prototyping tool that could replace Sketch as a design tool, but we see FramerX as a potential candidate. Examples are Figma, FramerX, Sketch or Invision studio. Our suggestion is to become an expert in 1 tool and only use the other tools for features yours doesn’t have.ĭuring the review of our tools, we noticed a trend towards platforms that combine design, prototyping, and development. It is difficult to find out which tool is the right one for you. There are too many tools available to create a prototype. Since that time a lot has changed in our prototyping toolbox. This is an update of a post we created 3 years ago. Therefore we decided to write a second post about the prototyping tools we use in our company and why. With new toolsets constantly being released it can be tricky to find the right tool for the job. Also, new team members post questions on Slack like “What tool do you use for …?”. At Hike One we have a lot of discussions about this topic. It comes with a sleek interface and a dozen of useful design tools, and it also allows you to elaborate complex, sensor-aided projects with just a few mouse clicks which can be then tested directly on your devices. Are you up to date on today’s digital design tools? For a big design team like ours, it is important to use the same toolset and find a way to make it fit into our design process. Taking everything into account, ProtoPie is a fairly competent prototyping tool that ticks all the right boxes. Last but not least, once you get the hang of things, you can start to improve your workflow with the help of keyboard shortcuts presented here. To get started with the tool and possibly even to decrease the learning curve a bit, we recommend that you first load one of the available demo projects, found on the app's official website, and by also taking a quick look at the Tutorial section. Powerful and very well-documented prototyping tool There are also four types of triggers, One-Time Triggers, Continuous, Sensor, and Conditional Triggers, all of which allow to work with different types of actions and interactions. The main components that stand out are neatly organized into separate categories such as Layer, Containers, Sensors, Responses, Timeline, Scene and Animation Curve. It might require a bit of getting used to, but you should be able to find it quite intuitive even if you haven't worked with similar tools before. The application sports a modern-looking and very responsive, black-themed UI with a clear-cut layout. Strikes a fair balance between user-accessibility and number of featuresĪll the tools you need are always within hand's reach and right on display without the usage of complicated menus or other similar solutions. The code is basically replaced by a series of interaction elements, such as "objects," "triggers" and "responses." There are other noteworthy stats, as well.įor example, it comes with support for simultaneous multi-touch actions (two- or three-finger inputs) and, even better, it allows you to test the results directly on your iOS (iPhone 5/SE, 6/6, 6 Plus and 7), as well as Android-based devices (Nexus 5 and 6, Galaxy S6, S7 and Note 5). Since it allows you to create sophisticated prototypes without having to write even a line of code, things are looking good right off the bat. Designed to smoothen the barrier between the programming and visual design components needed to create and test mobile apps, ProtoPie is a modern and well-equipped, cross-platform piece of software tool that aims to make the process of elaborating mobile prototypes feel "easy as pie." Create prototypes without having to write even a single line of code
